Discharge
Nursing staff usually have patients ready for discharge by 10am. Should you request a later discharge time, there may be additional costs.
Your surgeon and nurse will discuss your discharge arrangements. Your nurse will provide the forms and information needed when you leave, and give you some pain medication to take home.
You should ensure that someone is available to drive you home and if required to help you through your first few days of recuperation.
Please note that on discharge our receptionist will prepare your final account and if you are paying for your surgery yourself, the balance of hospital costs should be paid at this time.
If we have over estimated your costs, we will refund any balance on your account.
A refundable bond of $50 is also required should you hire equipment such as crutches. Please note that this cannot be added to your hospital account and must be paid separately.
Please note that equipment hire is intended to be short term only, and if you require equipment for longer than 3 months, you should make alternative hire arrangements. Hospital staff are able to provide you with the name of a suitable company.
Before You Leave
Please make sure you have -
- your discharge information form
- any prescriptions or medicines needed
- arranged follow up treatment with your doctor
- your private x-rays with you
- finalised any outstanding payments.
