Urological services include -
Brachytherapy Treatment - Brachytherapy Associates Limited – Contact UroBOP ltd
Low dose Brachytherapy is a technique for treating prostate cancer, using tiny radioactive seeds of Iodine-125 which are inserted permanently in to the prostate gland. “Brachy” means close and, in this treatment, the radioactivity is inserted directly into the cancerous organ.
Cryotherapy Treatment – Cryotherapy NZ Limited – contact UroBOP Ltd
Cryotherapy aims to eradicate prostate cancer by freezing prostate cells. Needles are inserted in to the prostate gland through the area between the scrotum and anus. The needles produce very cold temperatures. The latest generation of cryotherapy uses ultra-thin needles to produce iceballs of extreme sub-zero temperatures. Ultrasound is used to guide the insertion of the needles and monitor the freezing process.
Robotic Assisted Radical Prostatectomy – Da Vinci Robot Limited - contact UroBOP Ltd
This procedure involves removing the entire prostate gland. The procedure involves making 5 small incisions in the abdomen which allow for the placement of surgical cameras and instruments. The robotic system allows the surgeon’s hands to be translated into precise movements of micro-instruments while operating. He is able to see a 3D image of the operation which helps to identify important anatomical structures and isolate the prostate gland for removal.
Urology Continence Nurse – contact UroBOP Ltd or Bay Urology Ltd
