About

Claire is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Urogynaecology, in particular, the management of incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. She also has expertise in management of general gynaecological issues.

Originally from North Yorkshire, Claire graduated from Nottingham University before starting her Obstetrics and Gynaecology speciality training in the UK. A move to New Zealand saw her working at Middlemore and Tauranga Hospitals, with her final year of training with the Urogynaecology team at Waikato DHB. As a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Tauranga Hospital, Claire also now enjoys an active role in teaching.

Claire likes to form a partnership with her patients, providing them with the information they need to make well-informed decisions on their own health journey. She understands the effect that poor pelvic floor health can have on psycho-social well-being, and Claire loves seeing the improvements to a patient’s quality of life through the work she does with them.

Having fallen in love with the Bay of Plenty while she was here during her specialty training, Claire always planned to come back. She now calls Tauranga home, living here with her husband, a Consultant Oncologist, and two sons. Her family enjoy an active lifestyle, spending weekends hiking or mountain biking. Claire has a great love of cooking, and delights in creating meals for family and friends.

Claire is a registered Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
