Tim is an ENT specialist operating at Grace Hospital. He has special interests in paediatrics (tonsils, adenoids, grommets), ear surgery (perforations, surfer’s ear, cholesteatomas), as well as endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery (chronic rhinosinusitis, blocked tear ducts).
Tim takes pride in being a ‘good listener’ and having time during consultations to fully explain all the diagnosis and treatment options. In this way, he ensures that patients are fully informed and comfortable before consenting to any surgical procedure.
Tim gained his MBChB at the University of Cape Town in 1975. He then passed the Diploma of Anaesthetics, before becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh – FRCS (Ed) in 1984.
His thesis on Cholesteatomas earned him the Master of Medicine degree, and he then became a Fellow of the College of Surgeons of South Africa – FCS (SA).
Tim moved to Rotorua in 1987 before transferring to Tauranga Public Hospital in 1993. After 27 years in the Public Hospital, he now works only in his private practice. He maintains a close professional relationship with his colleagues in the Department and fully complies with the “Maintenance of professional standards” programme of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Tim enjoys the outdoors, hiking and cycling, and, until recently, managing his avocado orchard. He and his wife Sally have four adult children; their oldest son works in IT, their physiotherapist daughter has twins, another son is an orthopaedic registrar, and their youngest daughter is with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.Contact information:
