Mark Watson
General ManagerTauranga's Grace Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of its new General Manager, Mark Watson, who began in the role last month.
Watson brings more than 30 years extensive healthcare experience from the United Kingdom and New Zealand, supported by a strong clinical background and a distinguished record in hospital leadership.
For the past 21 years, Watson has been a prominent figure in New Zealand's healthcare sector, holding senior leadership roles across public and private institutions. His previous positions include leadership roles at Ormiston Surgical Hospital, Braemar Hospital, TRG Imaging and the Elective Surgery Centre at North Shore Hospital.
Most recently, Watson served for six years as General Manager of Southern Cross Hamilton Hospital, where he was pivotal in enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening clinical outcomes and creating a culture of engagement and accountability. This extensive leadership experience will be invaluable as Watson takes the helm at Grace Hospital, reinforcing its commitment to top-tier patient care and operational excellence.
"I am proud to be leading the Grace Hospital team and am excited to contribute to the continued development and growth of the flagship private hospital for the Bay of Plenty," says Watson.
"I'm particularly looking forward to engaging with the local community and supporting the ongoing delivery of outstanding surgical care across the region that is synonymous to Grace, with a hands-on approach and a deep commitment to service and patient-centred outcomes."
Watson says Grace Hospital is firmly committed to expanding its services to meet the growing healthcare needs of Tauranga.
"In partnership with our specialists, we are progressing well with plans to develop additional operating theatres and a new Day Surgery facility, ensuring we continue to provide exceptional care for our community."
Originally from the UK, Watson began his career as a military-trained Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with the Royal Air Force.
