New Consultants commence practice at Grace Hospital

Another two consultants commence at Grace

Over the last month we have had two new consultants commence practice at Grace Hospital.

We are pleased to advise that Abid Saaddedin has joined our team of Endoscopists, and is performing gastroscopies and colonoscopies from our facility. Abid completed his medical education in the United Kingdom, but has also worked as a consultant physician and gastroenterologist in the UK and Canada prior to moving to New Zealand.

Abid is currently a consultant at Tauranga Hospital, but is looking forward to the new procedure room at the Oropi Centre opening in the near future, as the demand for private endoscopy is growing with New Zealand’s healthcare environment.

The other new consultant is Michael Mackey. Michael is a Urologist based in Auckland and he specialises in robotic surgery. He is keen to commence his practice at Grace utilising our new Si Surgical Robot to perform robotic prostatectomy procedures for his patients with prostate cancer.

Michael has more than 15 year’s surgical experience, including six years in public hospitals in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He returned to New Zealand in 1998, and has been operating his private practice in Auckland since then.

Michael specialises in treatment of prostate cancer, particularly with robotic assistance, but also open prostatectomy, brachytherapy. He also has a special interest in the holmium laser resection of prostate procedure.
