Dan enjoys getting to know his patients and what their objectives are, and from here he can devise a tailored treatment plan for the best outcome. He prides himself in being able to guide patients through technical and medical terminology, so that they feel properly informed and supported, while surrounded with the highest standard of care.

A major interest of Dan’s is reanimation surgery for facial palsy, of which Bell’s palsy is the most well-known. However, he also has much expertise in other facial surgeries for skin cancer and cosmetic treatments, as well as breast reconstruction and cosmetic breast surgeries.

Dan completed his plastic surgical training at several leading plastic surgery units in London, followed by two years of advanced fellowship training in the UK that included cosmetic surgery at Harley Street, head and neck cancer and microsurgical reconstructive surgery. Prior to relocating to New Zealand, Dan spent just under two years working as a specialist at Charing Cross and Queen Victoria Hospitals in London.

A member of the NZ Association of Plastic Surgeons, and a fellow of the UK Royal College of Surgeons, Dan keeps up to date by regularly attending national and international plastic surgery meetings.

Since moving to New Zealand, Dan has embraced the Kiwi lifestyle and all the Bay of Plenty has to offer. Spending time with family is his main pastime and doing all the things they enjoy. They love getting out on the bikes, and spending time at the beautiful Mount Maunganui beach - although, he does describe learning to surf as quite a humbling experience. However, motor racing is also a passion, and if there is some to be watched, it is a good bet that is what he will be doing.
