Dawson Muir

Dawson is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a particular interest in paediatric orthopaedic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, and knee surgery (arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement).

He graduated with his MB ChB from Otago Medical School in 1993, before training in orthopaedic surgery.

Dawson then completed a Foot and Ankle Surgery and Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship at the University of Iowa, USA. He furthered his specialised training in paediatric surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, before going on to study knee, sports and joint replacement surgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, UK.

Dawson enjoys training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons and is the current Deputy Chairman of the National Education Subcommittee for the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association. The current censor for international medical graduates in orthopaedics, Dawson is also a board member of the New Zealand National Joint Registry.
