Neal Singleton

Neal is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Grace Hospital with a keen interest in spinal surgery. He also enjoys hip and knee arthroplasty surgery and general orthopaedics.

Neal studied medicine at the University of Auckland and completed post-graduate studies in surgical anatomy at Otago University. He completed his junior doctor years and the majority of his surgical training in the Bay of Plenty, and after gaining his fellowship in orthopaedic surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, he travelled to Brisbane to undertake further subspecialty training in spinal surgery. He subsequently worked as a consultant spinal surgeon at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Queensland’s largest spinal referral centre, managing acute spinal trauma, spinal tumours, as well as adult degenerative spinal conditions before he returned to Tauranga in 2020.

Neal divides his time between Grace Hospital, Tauranga and Whakatane Hospitals and is involved in teaching and training junior doctors as well as academic research. Neal is a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association.

Neal lives in Mount Maunganui and enjoys spending time at the beach, running and playing tennis.
