Andrew is a general Orthopaedic Surgeon with more than 25 years´ experience in the Bay of Plenty, with a particular interest in joint replacements and arthroscopic surgery.
He has long had an interest in outreach surgery in the South Pacific and dedicates part of his year to assisting orthopaedic services in this region. During the last 25 years, Andrew has been extensively involved in training Orthopaedic Surgeons in New Zealand and has been an Examiner for the exit fellowship exam for the Australasian College of Surgeons. He works at Tauranga and Whakatane hospitals as a general Orthopaedic Surgeon in both acute and elective services, alongside his own practice at Promed House, Tauranga, and the Eastbay Specialist Centre, Whakatane. After training in New Zealand, Andrew worked in fellowships in Canada and London. Before returning to New Zealand, he practised as an Orthopaedic Specialist on the East Coast of Canada. He uses European-designed hip and knee joint replacements and, where appropriate, uses computer-assisted navigation, as well as many other general orthopaedic procedures. Andrew is always happy to give advice about orthopaedic surgical procedures and to refer patients on to other orthopaedic colleagues where specialist procedures are appropriate.
